One of the most critical factors in any surgical facility is anesthesiology. The anesthesiologist not only administers and manages the anesthesia during a surgical procedure, but is also responsible for managing and treating changes in the patient’s life functions during surgery, supervising care post surgery and discharging the patient from the recovery unit.

South Coast Plastic Surgery is proud to have Dr. Scott Weatherwax as our resident board-certified anesthesiologist. With more than 30 years of experience and an extensive clinical and academic background, Dr. Weatherwax has the technical acumen and professional commitment to provide you with the finest treatment available.

After earning his undergraduate and medical degree from the University of Wisconsin, Dr. Weatherwax completed the rigorous anesthesiology residency program at the U.S. Naval Hospital in San Diego. He then traveled overseas, where he served as the General Medical Officer at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Okinawa, Japan. Dr. Weatherwax eventually returned to California, where he spent several years completing the advanced clinical training program at the U.S. Naval Hospital. After which, he served as a staff anesthesiologist for the past 27 years at various medical centers and surgery centers, where he has earned a reputation for both his expertise and ability to provide a safe and pleasant environment for his surgical patients.

Dr. Weatherwax is present for all surgical procedures, where he provides the safest and most up-to-date anesthesia techniques and medications to ensure your safety and your comfort.

When he is not working, Dr. Weatherwax enjoys spending time with his wife, Kathy, and his four children. He is also a dedicated supporter for orphan-care, having adopted his two youngest children through Orange County Social Services, and remaining intimately involved in issues related to care for children without homes or permanent families.
